Oh, those troubling little details like labels…
You may remember that in January 2010 there was a recall of some dog food products made by Tejas Industries. But just the other day the company got a follow-up from the Food and Drug Administration in which the agency expressed its unhappiness with Tejas’ compliance with the recall. Basically, as I read the news, among other things, the company moved a little too slow, wasn’t very communicative about identifying the reason for the recall or the hazard… and…
…communications to distributors, retailers, and consumers only included case lot coding 9323. Due to a labeling error, some of the affected bags were coded with the lot code 9333.
These five words — due to a labeling error — should be on the mind of every manufacturer. The phrase is certainly on the mind, increasingly in my opinion, of the FDA.
