I’ve said all along that GS1 seemed to be a bit behind on mobilizing (no pun intended) behind standards that bridge consumers, their cell phone cameras, and barcodes. But to GS1′s credit, they continue to push ahead.  Evidence can be found here, today, in this news item being carried by GoMo News and which features the comments and stated commitments of Nestle’s Vanderlei Roque dos Santos, co-chair of the GS1 MobileCom working group.

The news item reports that GS1 plans to launch extended packaging trials in 2010, and briefly overviews the trials that have already been conducted by Carrefour, Nokia, and Franprix.
