This news probably isn’t all that unexpected but it isn’t without its major implications. After all, Premier’s healthcare alliance works with 2,200 not-for-profit hospitals. The news exactly: Premier has selected 1SYNC as its data poolfor accessing product information in the Global Data Synchronization Network® (GDSN®). And 1SYNC, as you probably know, is the leading data pool for the GDSN, which is a standard developed and maintained by GS1. As the news release notes:

More than 19,000 companies, primarily in the retail, hardware and consumer packaged goods sectors, use it to access information for more than 3 million products; healthcare is a growing portion of the GDSN, with 1SYNC connecting the largest number of healthcare suppliers.
