It seems to me that just a few months ago I got a lot of blank stares from people being asked about their progress in adopting GS1. The most common response often seemed to be, “Huh?” But today I decided to check out the list of participating companies in the GS1 ‘Community Room.’ Are you familiar with it? Here, in GS1′s own words, is how they describe it:
GS1 Community Room enables you to know what is really happening in terms of the development and implementation of GS1 Standards within industries and around the world. It also enables your company to influence the development and implementation of GS1 standards for in the supply chain to ensure that they meet your company’s needs and those of your business partners. In addition, by participating in the various GS1 Business Reqiurements, Work and Action Groups, you will be able to exchange experiences with other companies involved in implementing GS1 standards.
But if you go to this login page, you can get a look at this list of participating companies. Prepare to scroll for quite a long time down the long list. Without a doubt, in a very short time, a great many people have gone well beyond the “Huh?” stage.
