GS1 Canada was awarded top honors for supply chain excellence earlier this month during the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) Association/UConnect Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas.
That’s the opening paragraph from this June 24th edition of PROGRESSIVE GROCER. You may want to scan the article for at least three reasons: One, it says the judges were most impressed by GS1 Canada’s pharmaceutical supply chain management achievements. Two, there’s a quote from Arthur Smith, President and CEO, GS1 Canada, which speaks to the implication of GS1 standards in healthcare in general. And three, there’s an interesting bit about Canada’s National Product Registry. The article says it now includes more than 10,000 over the counter, 11,000 prescription and 500 behind the counter products.
